At least Kerry served. You can't compare his war service to Bush's Guard service. That's the Left's and the Mainstream Media's take on the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth bruhaha.
But can you compare Reserve to Reserve? Yes you can. From the Chicago Sun-Times:
Questions have been raised about President Bush's drill attendance in the reserves, but Bush received his honorable discharge on schedule. Kerry, who should have been discharged from the Navy about the same time -- July 1, 1972 -- wasn't given the discharge he has on his campaign Web site until July 13, 1978. What delayed the discharge for six years? This raises serious questions about Kerry's performance while in the reserves that are far more potentially damaging than those raised against Bush.I don't know Chicago's newspaper politics. I do know that the Tribune is considered Chicago's major paper, but I don't know how close the Sun-Times is. Still, it's interesting, and significant, that I found this comment in a newspaper first, not in a blog.
This topic should also make it clear, if the Left's Media doesn't manage to bury it, just how partisan the Left Media is. How can they justify scrutinizing the President's record but not his opponents? Answer: They can't.
But what fun we'll have watching them try :-)
