Actual conversation with an 8 year old:
Mom: Noel, didn’t I tell you to get your karate pants?
Son: I already did!
Mom: Where did you put them?
Son: Put what?
Mom: Your karate pants!
Son: Oh!
Mom: So where are they?
Son: Idunno!
Sigh.

Sounds like a conversation with my 10 y.o. son!

On further reflection... perhaps the word "conversation" was misleading!

Like my conversation with Rachel last night. She wanted to know why I wouldn't sell my Trooper (for $100) so we could buy a new Sequoia (for $37K). She really doesn't like the idea of sharing the back seat with her younger brother and sister for 4,000 miles.
Rachel: Why don't you sell your Trooper so we can buy a new car?
Me: Because it only has 54K miles on it and it's in great shape.
Rachel: Can't we put more miles on it?
Me: Yes, we can take it on our camping trip.
Rachel: (after a half-minute pause) Are miles a good thing or a bad thing?
