Farewell Cynthia, we hardly knew ye!

Looks like Rep. Cynthia McKinney, Democrat, Georgia, aka the Capital Hill Cop Beater, is going to go down. Didn't go all the way yesterday, but it's a start.

Damn, we're going to miss having her to whip, but we're all much better off without her.

UN intervention in Lebanon? Good idea IF it's done in the right place

The UN is proposing, as usual, an international peacekeeping force to secure the peace in Lebanon.  At first blush, it sounds like the usual UN gibberish, which it is if the forces were placed on the Lebanese Hezbollah border with Israel.  But, if they put their line behind Hezbollah's forces, something like drawn in below, and put in enough road blocks with sufficient forces to contain the terrorists, and then let Israel finish the job that needs doing, that would be worthwhile.

So far, the most amazing thing about this little war are the dogs that aren't barking.  No condemnation & threats againt Israel from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc.  That could be huge.

In my vanishing spare time, I've been reading Haj by Leon Uris.  Man, those Arab boys are some sick puppies.

I wish the USAF was lending a big iron hand in southern Lebanon right now.

Tooth Fairy time!

My little sweet lost her first front tooth yesterday.  It was the first one I've ever taken out myself.  She is, as you can see, ecstatic.

Something close to sense from the WaPo

I'm not familiar with Sebastian Mallaby, but he's written something almost sensible in the Washington Post.  It's tempting to fisk this column, which deserves it, but for its last two paragraphs which show a spark of common sense struggling to become a fire of comprehension:

Even today, many of these freeloaders see mayhem in Iraq as America's problem. You'd think that chaos in a major oil exporter, with the potential to seed extremism all over the Middle East, would alarm all responsible governments. But the freeloaders think it's a joke. Pressed over the weekend about democracy in Russia, Vladimir Putin quipped that he didn't want a democracy like Iraq's.

It's going to take something drastic to change this mind-set. But until it changes, diplomacy will be weak; there will be more wars and more radicalization of extremists. I'm not sure what that mind-set changer ought to be. But maybe it's going to take $100 oil to shock the Chinese and the reluctant Europeans into seeing that Islamic extremism does hurt them. And maybe it's going to be necessary to block Russia's quest for membership in the World Trade Organization, which Putin pressed aggressively last week. Why should the Russians expect the benefits of international trade if they won't contribute to the security that underpins it?

What Mr. Mallaby doesn't seem to quite get, although he's close, is that the bad guys see diplomacy as war by other means (read your Sun Tsu), and that Russia, China, and France are bad guys.  Once that comes into focus for you, all the rest makes sense.

Recruitment goals fall short by 63. Not 63% -- 63 men.

Somehow, I think we'll manage to muddle through without the missing 63.

The armed forces needed 120,130 recruits and re-enlistments for the year-to-date and exceeded that by 2,256. For the reserves, 101,248 were needed for the year-to-date, but only 101,185 were recruited, coming up short 63 people (less than a tenth of a percent).  (emphasis added)

A NEW WAY TO CAR JACK (NOT A JOKE)

You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car, and get inside you start the engine and shift into REVERSE, and you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your parking space and you
notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, You shift into PARK, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove  that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
 
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off! Your engine was  running and  they practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.  And guess what ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car...

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
 
Just drive away and remove the paper that is stuck to your Window later,and be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family... especially to women! A  purse contains   all of your identification, and you certainly do NOT want someone  getting your address.

I think Israel is really pissed.  One question:  Why are they blowing up so many bridges across which they might want to invade?
