Found in August issue of Discover Magazine, this is a composite of storms in the Gulf.
Each track shows the path of a severe storm. The paths were determined from historical data at the National Hurricane Center.
I don't know how accurate the data is from pre-satellite days, but still, I get the point. Note that, while nearby Tampa Bay has not been hit in 105 years, about 8 went right over my d*mn dock!
